BIO: Don Azul is a native San Diegan born on September 25, 1983 at Sharp Memorial Hospital. Don is currently the Senior Vice-President for Investor Relations at B3 Properties LLC, a real estate investment firm. Don also serves on the Board of Directors for PremloCare Intuitive, an international Telemedical Healthcare corporation that specializes in innovative technology. Don served in the United States Army working in the US Intelligence community as an analyst. In 2004, Don served with the 1st Stryker Brigade, 25th Infantry Division in Mosul, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Don was instrumental in the unit's work to apprehend over 700 known terrorists and local insurgents and contributed heavily to the unit's conviction rate of 81% due to his work with the Iraq Central Criminal Courts. Don was appointed by the California Department of Veterans Affairs as the first Regional Collaborative Coordinator for San Diego and Imperial Counties. His region has the largest population of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans in the United States. Don was responsible for coordinating Veteran programs and services for250,000 Veterans and their loved ones. Don led and managed a staff of 22 employees. Don served as Executive Director of the San Diego Veterans Coalition as well as a member of their Board of Governors. Don's contribution to the organization was vital in securing a combined total of $1.2 million in San Diego County Mental Health funding grants. Don streamlined the organization's structure and outreach efforts to better serve Veterans and their loved ones. He also led the organization's partnership efforts, growing from 6 partner organizations to 73. Don was also a member of the United Veterans Council of San Diego serving on their Communications Committee as well as a member of the San Diego Veterans Day Parade Committee. Don served as a Councilmember for the Our Lady of the Rosary Church Pastoral Council and was Chairman of the Capital Projects and Infrastructure Committee. Don was a Mass Lector on Sundays and had volunteered at the Our Lady of the Rosary's Gift Store. Don was an elected Director-at-Large for the Clairemont Town Council. Don's committee assignments were the following: member of the Audit Committee, Chairman of the Budget Committee, and member of the Bylaws Committee. Don's hobbies include reading, playing ice hockey and volleyball, and spending time with his dog, Max. |
